A deeper yielding*

“You’re really good at choosing ripe avocados. What’s the secret?”

“I’ve been selling fruit for twenty years. It’s not something I can just tell you…”

I’m here to tell you.

Very unripe avocadoes are hard.

Ripening-but-not-yet-ripe avocados feel soft just beneath their skins but still feel hard and unyielding deeper down if you press them more deeply than you feel you should.

Ripe avocados are similarly soft on the surface but when deeply pressed, yield deeply.

If this is helpful, tell your friends.

If you have a better method, tell me.
