“This problem can’t be solved with technology.”
In one sense, there are lots of problems that aren’t amenable to technological solutions – particularly problems caused by our vices, whether in our closest relationships or in our politics. We’re right to think that technology won’t solve our deepest problems.
In another sense, though, we live in, on, by and through our technologies. A strictly technical solution (in the sense of “I can get a machine to do this for me”) may not be possible, but a solution that doesn’t involve technology seems equally unlikely.
