Seth Godin on privilege and responsibility: “I won the lottery”

I feel that [responsibility to say something worth saying] all the time.

I won the lottery. I wasn’t born in 1880, and I wasn’t born building pyramids somewhere and I wasn’t born with some heart defect.

What are you going to do with that?

What are you going to with you were born in the right place at the right time to the right parents with the right opportunities and a thousand lucky breaks?

Well, some people just take credit for all of it, and go buy a house in the south of France and pretend that they’re smart. I’m not interested in that. I’m well aware of how much debt I’m in… and if I can repay just a little, that makes me feel better than walking away from it.
