Leverage allows you to do more with what you have by applying intelligent effort. Stand in the right place and apply leverage and the world will move.
High leverage activities do at least one of three things:
- Bring a consistent improvement in a key output (enabling your organisation to do something better, faster, less expensively, with less effort, for more people);
- Bring in significant new resources (financial, people, tools) that have repeated benefits;
- Create entirely new opportunities.
They should also be things that only you can do within your organisation, or that you can do best. Finding a way to not have to do non-essential things that you’re bad at is one of the highest leverage things you can do.
